In 2025, Smyth Painting Company proudly celebrates 20 years in business — and with it, the launch of a brand-new website for painting services in Newport, Rhode Island to better serve our clients and community.
Founded in 2005 by Douglas Smyth, our company was built on a mission that extended far beyond brushstrokes and color palettes. From day one, we’ve worked to change the narrative around professional painting — a trade too often overlooked and undervalued. Douglas saw the potential in offering more than just a job — he envisioned a career path rooted in dignity, respect, and long-term stability for professional painters in Rhode Island.
The Smyth family has called Newport home for more than seven generations. With a long-standing legacy of entrepreneurship and deep-rooted ties to the local community. Building on that foundation, Doug Smyth recognized that partnering with his brother Eric would allow them to grow a company grounded in strong values and experienced painters. Together, they’ve built skilled crews and a business dedicated to serving all of Newport County. Their commitment to the community goes beyond the job site — they actively support youth sports programs on Aquidneck Island, such as Babe Ruth Little League, and have consistently contributed to nonprofits like Looking Upwards, and prioritize hiring locally whenever possible.
